As lifelong learners, Veritas faculty frequently explore the educational and cultural resources in the world beyond our campus. Whether with concerts, museums, or other cultural events and institutions, we find that resources in the broader community can often add richness and depth to instruction and to the life of the school.

For this reason, the academy from time to time invites special guests, holds special events, and sends students on field trips off site. These activities will be communicated by email and The Falcon Flyer

Field Trips

From time to time during the school year, particular grades will leave campus for activities that enrich their educational and cultural experience. There are recurring traditions, but also there may be new opportunities that come up during particular years (special exhibits or performances, for instance). Past field trips have included the Musical Instrument Museum, Out of Africa wildlife park, the Phoenix Art Museum, the Southwest Shakespeare Company, and more.

Reinforcing the civic knowledge and virtue of our students, as they grow into good citizens, there are also two recurring field trips that bookend the high-school experience:

State Capitol Trip: Freshmen annually visit the Arizona state capitol for a tour, visiting the government buildings and holding a debate of their own on the floor of the senate.

Senior Trip to Washington, D.C.: Seniors visit our nations capitol and explore the buildings and monuments in the capitol city and surrounding area, accompanied by their teachers. View for more info on this culminating experience for our seniors.

Signup and Permission

Parents will receive email notification of trip details (found on our Configio Payment Portal under the heading Field Trips), as well as a link to a trip registration and permission page. We want all of our students to be able to benefit from the enrichment of these activities: those in need of financial assistance to participate may submit a scholarship application here.

Parent Chaperones

Parent chaperones play a key supportive role in making these enriching activities possible, especially off-site field trips. Any parent considering volunteering in this way should contact our front office to register as a volunteer and complete fingerprint clearance with Great Hearts.
